The project, funded by the Australian Coal Association Research Program, aims to develop a device and accompanying procedures which will detect fluid under pressure in hoses.
A spokesperson for Custom Fluidpower said there was an unmet need for a non-invasive method of ascertaining whether a hose, tube or pipe is under pressure and at risk of failing.
Custom Fluidpower will work with Australian resource and development specialists to conduct initial research into the project.
While the project is still in the initial research stage, Centennial Coal, Anglo Coal, BHP Billiton and Xstrata have indicated their support to make trial sites available for minesite test work.
