Scheduled for October 7 at 4pm local time, the inauguration will take place at the Waterfront Place Hotel.

The event features presentations by union president Cecil Roberts, secretary-treasurer Daniel Kane, AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka and state governor Joe Manchin.

A reception will follow the swearing in ceremony at 7pm.

In early August, the UMWA announced it had re-elected Roberts and Kane for five-year terms.

Roberts has served as UMWA president for 14 years and is the longest-serving leader after John Lewis in the group’s history.

“Dan and I are very humbled and honored to be given the opportunity by the membership of the UMWA to serve another term as their president and secretary-treasurer,” Roberts said at the time.

“We look forward to confronting the challenges that face our members in the upcoming years and continuing our fight to improve the jobs, wages and benefits of active and retired UMWA members.”
