The third symposium, to be held on May 26-27, will focus on the topics of mineral resources and mine development.
About 50 presentations by experts from Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Papua New Guinea, the US and Europe will speak about “mineral resources” – in particular identification of critical raw materials; demand and possible supply of critical raw materials; risk management with regard to a secure supply; views, statements and needs of governments, sectors and enterprises; successful policies, strategies and concepts for a safe minerals supply; and management of mineral resources.
The second theme, mine development, focuses not only on the physical development of mining projects but also on preparatory and supporting issues.
These include planning, organisation, logistics, financing, operational experiences such as shaft-sinking, roadheading, surface mine development, machine technology and equipment, legal aspects and permits, and environmental issues.
