QME preview: Becker

Communications

Becker will be displaying several products at QME, in particular our platform of radio communications solutions for both coal and hard rock mines. Our UHF and VHF Leaky Feeder technologies provide high-quality, reliable voice, data and video throughout the mine. We have Intrinsically Safe systems for coal and a variety of solutions for hard rock mines.

We also have approved radio handsets and these will be on display.

Collision Avoidance

The Becker Collision Avoidance System (CAS) makes operators of large vehicles aware of other vehicles (or personnel) nearby. The system supports accurate proximity detection around vehicles as well as long read range capabilities for vehicle-to-vehicle interaction. CAS provides visible alerts in the form of high-intensity LEDs and/or with audible alarms.

The LED readouts will inform the driver of the number of vehicles or people in the area and the direction of those assets. The new CAS430 will be on show at the QME.

Automation

Becker currently provides radio telemetry solutions for ventilation, pump and borefield control and monitoring. We have Citect programming expertise and can interface to your existing SCADA packages. We can interface and automate a variety of equipment over a number of communications mediums including fibre-optic, wireless LAN and radio frequencies.

Becker will also be displaying our IS-approved Wireless Access Point technology at the QME.

Tagging & Tracking

Tagging and Tracking solutions are now being rolled out for many applications in coal and hard rock mines. The Becker group has the most tagging systems installed globally in the mining industry. Know the location of your people, vehicles and assets in real time. Whether monitoring tip cycle times, managing traffic flow or controlling fuel dispensing, the system provides significant flexibility with 100% reliable tag reading. The tagging systems are also compatible with our Collision Avoidance and Wireless LAN infrastructure.

Electrical

Becker’s electrical division focuses on the hard rock mining sector, providing equipment which is manufactured in Australia to suit Australian mining conditions. We offer products ranging from fan starters to sub-stations. Our electrical division also has a labour hire, equipment hire and projects group. We offer the advantage of being a one-stop shop for all your electrical and communications requirements. Importantly, Becker Entities is the OEM so you only need to deal with the one company for all your electrical and communications sales and service requirements.

Flameproof Electrics (ENDIS)

Becker, in conjunction with our strategic partner Vale SMS, will be displaying the Becker ENDIS technology at QME. A range of compact, modular flameproof equipment inherently designed to minimise downtime and increase utilisation rates for longwall operations and development panels, the ENDIS range is a revolutionary development for the Australian coal market.
