These regional workshops are the eighth in a series convened by ACARP’s Roadway Development Task Group (RDTG) and will focus on the research, development and introduction of new roadway development technologies, as well as advances in roadway development operating and maintenance practices through a series of case studies from leading operators and researchers.
The workshops are open to all those involved in roadway development including operators, trades, team leaders, ERZ controllers/deputies, development coordinators and engineers, superintendents and mine managers, together with original equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
Participants should be prepared to discuss the issues, challenges and opportunities they experience in roadway development, and to recommend ways and means of improving performance.
Some of the speakers at the workshops include Peter Raines from Clarence colliery on roadway development technology and equipment; Brad Kedwell from Ravensworth Underground on roadway development practice; and Paul Gill from Xstrata NSW on roadway development equipment.
David Reid of the CSIRO will demonstrate advances achieved in stage one of the Automated (Self Steering) Continuous Miner project and the proposed development and application of self steering technologies in stage two.
Stephen Van Duin from the University of Wollongong will demonstrate the integrated bolt and mesh handling systems developed in stage one of the Automated Bolting and Mesh Handling project, and outline the proposed underground demonstration of the system in stage two.
A dinner will also be held on the night prior to each workshop where registrants may informally meet with presenters and other registrants.
