We are seeking expressions of interest from candidates who possess formal qualifications in Environmental Science, Chemistry or similar coupled with extensive industry experience in managing large scale analytical laboratories. The successful candidate will possess superior communication skills and be comfortable conversing and liaising with clients and staff at all levels. Sound management practices and strong problem solving and decision-making skills are a prerequisite. Specifically what we are seeking is an individual who has preferably geochem technical skills but more importantly has the business acumen to run an efficient business, develop the business and to deal with local partners, government officials and local clients.

Reporting to the Global Operations Manager the General Manager will be responsible and accountable for:

  • P&L
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Managing the day to day operations of the laboratory
  • Quotations and tenders
  • Business Development and growth
  • Maintaining current client relationships
  • Managing the quality of analysis and results, turn around times, maintenance of laboratory equipment and staff training and performance
  • Maintaining relevant laboratory accreditation
  • Reviewing all laboratory procedures periodically to ensure certifications and standards are met
  • Formulating budgets and forecasts as required
  • Maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders
