Australia-based compressed hydrogen storage and distribution equipment manufacturer and certifier H2 Hauler has chosen Emerson to provide a consolidated and integrated hydrogen mobility business management system.

Hydrogen is one of the fuels in the mix for miners looking to reduce the carbon outputs of their operations.

Emerson will automate H2 Hauler's loading and monitoring systems, manage custody transfer, and monitor trailer tube assets for safe and sustainable hydrogen transport.

H2 Hauler chief executive officer Tyson Cooney said Emerson would bring smarts not just in safe storage and distribution but also in vital chain of custody management and auditing capabilities.

Emerson's solutions applied to the H2 Hauler work will include its DeltaV PK Controller, fire and gas systems, valves, actuators and regulators.

It will also provide a secure, cloud-based data platform so equipment can be remotely viewed and controlled.

Emerson chief sustainability officer Mike Train said H2 Hauler was making strides to support Australia's mobile hydrogen infrastructure.

"As demand for hydrogen accelerates across heavy-duty transportation applications we need systems in place to safely, reliably and efficiently transport hydrogen from where it is produced to where it is needed," Train said.

Emerson is working with a number of hydrogen customers including Toyota Australia, modular hydrogen plant maker Bayotech, and Kohygen, which is building a network of high capacity gas or liquid hydrogen refuelling stations across South Korea.
