Initial drilling will comprise a 2000m, 13-hole reverse circulation program in the company’s Teeg and Narlin Teeg licences.
Draig managing director Mark Early said RC drilling from two rigs would allow the first results to be available within weeks.
“Drilling these targets will help us identify both the presence and principal structure characteristics of the coal,” he said.
“We will initially use RC drilling for speed and economy and then spot core a number of those intersections for coal quality assessment.”
The 5-6 week campaign will be undertaken by local drill contractor Ellehcor and is expected to confirm a JORC-compliant resource by the 2012 second-quarter.
