The conference was held this year at the Royal Pines Resort on Queensland’s Gold Coast and was attended by some 180 delegates, including many international visitors.

Equipment supplier of the year was won by DBT while shortlisted companies included Brambles Underground Equipment, Joy Mining Machinery and Alfagomma.

Finalists for Contractor of the Year were Walter Construction, Thiess and Roche. The winner was Mastermyne.

Longwall mine of the year went to MIM’s Oaky North operation in Queensland. Other finalists included South Bulga, Kestrel, and BHP Billiton Illawarra.

Most Innovative Technology Supplier of the Year was awarded to Joy Mining Machinery. Finalists were DBT and Alfagomma.

The Longwall Industry Awards dinner was hosted by Walley Lewis, “The King”. Winners were selected by a mass poll of the industry.
