The outcrop coal discovery - in its EPC1001 tenement - came after reconnaissance field mapping located a 2m thick seam of clean coal with thinner coal seams above and below the main seam.
While correlation of individual seams in the area is not currently possible, the seams are interpreted to occur at roughly the same stratigraphic level as those at Freitag Creek.
Geological interpretation undertaken by Bowen has indicated the EPC1002 area shares the same stratigraphy with less structural complexity and shallower dips.
The company has since submitted applications for a 300 sub-block tenement - EPCA 1187 - in a bid to secure reserves for its West Rolleston Project.
