The institute of Mining Engineering has invited industry and research experts to submit an abstract of their presentation by October 15, 2003. The symposia will be held on June 2 and 3, 2004.
The conference was attended by 400 international mining experts in 2001 and organisers are looking towards similar numbers in 2004.
“Successful roofbolting application is enhanced through attention to detail. Benchmarking between different mining operations and sectors can point out areas which have potential for improvement,” conference organisers said.
Proposed topics to be discussed include operational experiences, roofbolting concepts, monitoring, quality control, software applications, geotechnical and geomechanical aspects, occupational health and safety, legal framework and roofbolting equipment including bolts, resin, mesh and streps, machinery and automation.
