DBT America celebrates new headquarters

“Business is so good that we haven’t had time to do this,” said DBT America president Bill Tate. The June 27 celebration was attended by several hundred employees and mining industry representatives.

The new building houses about 40 employees who handle most of the company’s operations for the US, Canada, Mexico and South America. Next to the building is DBT’s local manufacturing plant, staffed by about 120 workers; a warehouse and equipment reconditioning facility are also located nearby.

“Eventually 100 employees will work in the headquarters building and run the US region business,” Tate said.

Equipped with state-of-the-art conference and meeting room technology, the new DBT America headquarters was essential, according to Tate, as new acquisitions had made DBT the supplier of the widest range of underground mining equipment in the US.

Formed in January 1995 primarily to manufacture longwall mining equipment for the underground coal mining industry, DBT America expanded into machinery supply for room and pillar mining through acquisitions including the Long-Airdox Company, Eimco CM and Seneca Diesel.
