CCT's clean coal facility moving ahead

The New York-based company said Thursday that all major components for the LeFlore County complex – also the site of a major coal-fired power company – have been received, and construction will continue for the next several weeks.

The news comes just days after confirmation of the project’s site agreement with a major coal power station. The company has also acquired and is awaiting the imminent delivery of ancillary equipment, including a coal screening device and a propane generator to feed and power the pilot plant.

CCT has also retained a contractor for the project’s 30.5m by 30.5m cement slab. That work will be performed next week to allow curing time before the arrival of the plant’s infrastructure from a Tulsa facility, where it is being skid-mounted for delivery.

“With the arrival of the components of the pilot plant, we are a major step closer to the commercialisation of our unique technology,” president and chief executive officer Robin Eves said.

“Today marks the second anniversary of our filing of the patent application for the Pristine-M process [and]we are very grateful for the enormous amount of work and effort on the part of many people that has made it possible for us to reach this important milestone in what we regard as record time.

The company confirmed in early June that it had selected Carrier Vibrating Equipment for a customer designed and built batch processor that will assist in its Pristine-SA process development, a week after it filed provisional patent applications for the technology.

The process was designed to produce a coal product devoid of all volatiles and aimed to ensure efficient and clean combustion on a par with natural gas.

"Pristine-SA represents a significant addition to the company's technology portfolio that further enhances the overall value and competitive edge," Eves said at the time.

CT’s main patented process ‘Pristine-M’ is designed to remove moisture from coal and produce a stable end-product that can be transported safely over long distances without re-absorbing moisture.
