The flotation level transmitter, or FLT, from Flolevel Technologies, uses acoustic technology to monitor flotation cell levels.
This technology is not affected by density, build-up, scaling, hydraulic imbalance effects, conductivity or sticky froth conditions.
The FLT Flolevel Array is designed to offer a reliable and repeatable slurry level with constant high resolution.
Flolevel Technologies owner and inventor Robert Stirling said the company focused on developing a simpler, low maintenance replacement of level technologies such as displacement floats, pressure transmitters and conductivity probes.
These, he said, were known to be affected by environmental changes, resulting in increased costs for flotation cell recovery.
“This new FLT technology will work with a higher repeatable accuracy in these tough environments,” Stirling said.
The Flolevel system is said to be easy to install from the top of the flotation cell and easy to calibrate.
It comes with an adjustable 316 stainless steel bracket with flange mounting options and a colour display controller mounted in a stainless steel enclosure.
The device can measure all types of flotation cells with a maximum control range of 6400mm.
Resolution accuracy options available are 2mm, 15mm and 25mm.
Various output capability options are available such as Modbus, Profibus, Floundation Fieldbus, Devicenet and Ethernet. The FLT is suitable for use in flotation systems designed to for copper, potash, gold, nickel, molybdenum, silver, coal, oil sands, zinc, gypsum and iron ore.
