Running to September 3 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Conservation Center in Nashville, Tennessee, the event will kick off with a registration and briefings for officials on Sunday. The itinerary for Monday, September 1 includes bench contests for BG-4 and BioPak 240-R as well as first aid.
The second and third days of the conference are also full schedules and dedicated just to mine rescue teams, allowing all registered crews their time with the competition’s simulated emergency scenarios.
The fourth and final day, September 3, will feature a preshift contest as well as the presentation of awards at a banquet dinner.
According to MSHA’s roster for the event, teams from 13 US states – including crews from as far away as Utah and Wyoming – are registered to compete so far. In total, 87 mine rescue teams, 33 first aid teams, 75 BG-4 participants, 16 BioPak 240R competitors, 30 BioPak 240S individuals and 100 preshift contestants are set to take the stage.
