The four-day gathering includes opportunities for guests to network while listening to presentations from safety leaders in industry and government. Breakout sessions and a vendor exhibit hall will also be part of the itinerary, as well as an awards ceremony.
Among the event's confirmed speakers are Arizona State Mine Inspectors office representative Tim Evans, Edward Lopez from the US Mine Safety and Health Administration, Jackson Kelly law firm staffer Tim Olson and Ron Witt of American Infrastructure.
Cleveland-Cliffs vice-president Duke Vector will also present during the general session. He told the organisers: “The word ‘I’ must be part of any conversation about safety, because that identifies who has control over safety.”
Patton Boggs partner Mark Savit is also on the schedule for the technical sessions; he noted the event's importance because of the high calibre of both speakers and participants and the potential for safety improvement through conversations held by both parties.
Further details of the gathering's sessions are still under development. More information can be found through the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals on its conference website.
