Granted by the Queensland government in May for a period of three years, EPC 1553 covers 192 square kilometres immediately southwest of EPC 956 and is wholly owned by the company.
EPC 956 is held by the Tiaro Coal Joint Venture, which also involves Core Coal and Jandale.
Tiaro said very little drilling had been undertaken in EPC 1553, with only six holes completed by other companies before 1986.
Exploration for the June quarter was concentrated in EPC 956 in the Munna Creek target zone, with 17 holes drilled for 2113m, including 434m of diamond core drilling in four holes.
Tiaro said coal was intersected in all holes of the program, with at least 10 holes showing one or more potentially economic coal seams at least 1m thick and some seams up to 3m in thickness.
Tiaro has stakes in six Queensland coal permits.
Shares in Tiaro closed up A1c to 16c on Friday.
