New appointment for Marshall Miller

CONSULTING company Marshall Miller & Associates (MM&A), announced the appointment of Robert D. May, Jr., C.P.G. as senior geologist.

New appointment for Marshall Miller

May, formerly with James River Coal Service Company in London, joins MM&A’s Bluefield, Virginia headquarters and will be providing coal reserve analysis and permitting support for MM&A.

At James River Coal Service Company (formerly Interstate Coal Company) May was Chief Geologist supervising geologic requirements for the company. May holds a B.S. in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines and has 30 years of experience in the coal and mining industry.

He is a certified Professional Geologist (C.P.G.); a member of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration A.I.M.E.; and a registered professional geologist in Kentucky.

MM&A employs over 190 professionals, maintains 11 offices in 8 states, and works on an international basis with active projects in China, South America, and Canada.

MM&A has office locations throughout the US, including the following: Bluefield and Richmond, VA; Raleigh, NC; Lexington and Madisonville, KY; Charleston and Morgantown, WV; Kingsport, TN; Harrisburg, PA; Kansas City, KS; and Shreveport, LA.

For the past five consecutive years, MM&A has been listed among the “Top 500 Engineering Design Firms in the U.S.” by Engineering News Record; and the 12th largest Engineering Firm in Virginia. (2002 and 2003); and listed among the “Fantastic Fifty” recognizing the 50 fastest growing companies in Virginia, by the State Virginia Chamber of Commerce in 2000.
