Firm quarter for Coal & Allied

The company’s Hunter Valley operations produced 2.85Mt, followed by its Warkworth mine with 1.89Mt and its Bengalla mine producing 1.62Mt. Its Mount Thorley operations produced 747,000t.

For the year to date Coal & Allied has produced 21.7Mt, just surpassing the output of the first nine months of 2005.

The company said during the quarter Hunter Valley coal producers voted not to continue with Port Waratah Coal Services’ capacity balancing system in 2007. This will allow the Port of Newcastle to operate on a “take or pay” basis and customers will not have their coal handling requirements reduced to match the capacity of the coal chain.
