The plot thickens in Mackay murder scandal

He has already been killed off this week and now finds himself in the middle of a dispute between the conservation group that sent him to his “forever sleep “and the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.

The dispute follows a local environmental group’s entry into DBCT’s annual story book competition.

The story follows Hector as he becomes old and tired and decides to “sleep forever”, leaving Windy the Wind Turbine and Solly the Solar Panel to take the reins.

The conservationist who wrote the story titled Hector Rests in Peace has since been disqualified on the grounds that the competition was for individuals and the story was attributed to the Mackay Conservation Group as a whole.

DBCT has since invited the author, Christine Carlisle, to re-enter as an individual, but according to the DBCT she refused.

Carlisle even told ABC Local she was considering publishing the story herself.

This did not sit well with the DBCT, which released a statement saying that if the group wished to publish the story they must remove all illustrations of Hector and change his name.
