The second annual Western States Coal Mine Methane Recovery and Use Workshop, sponsored by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Methane Outreach Program and Raven Ridge Resources, will be held at the Two Rivers Convention Center.

Co-sponsors for the event include Schauenburg Flaxadux, Target Drilling, Norwest and REI Drilling, among others. The comprehensive two-day gathering, the organisers said, will allow attendees to hear experts from both industry and government speaking on the issue, discussing from a technological and legal perspective methane recovery and use opportunities within the western United States.

Colorado state representative Bernie Buescher will offer a keynote speech on September 26. The following are just some of the topics included in the workshop:

Perspectives from mining and drilling companies

Innovative financing for CMM projects

CMM leasing and safety issues in the western US

Innovative technologies for CMM projects
