The accident occurred at the Da'anshan coal mine, west of Beijing. Among the 10 trapped were two safety inspectors, China Daily reported.
When the collapse occurred 10 workers were in the east tunnel and six in the west. The miners in the west tunnel were found unhurt.
Rescue attempts are being slowed by loose soil and the possibility of total tunnel collapse. It is not known whether the trapped miners are alive.
