Under the scope of the agreement Emeco will have access to a dedicated storefront on Richie Bros' custom branded seller page, Iron Planet, to list items for sale.

Items will be sold through Iron Planet auctions or through Richie Bros' Marketplace-E transaction system.

Ritchie Bros sales director Finlay Massey said with a shared focus on asset solutions, the agreement was the foundation for a strong partnership and complimented efforts to diversify sales solutions.

"We are uniquely positioned to deliver Emeco with our substantial resources, industry expertise and to maximise the return on sale of surplus Emeco assets," he said.

Emeco general manager Steve Crofts said the company had been in the mining business for 50 years providing heavy earthmoving equipment to mining companies and contractors across coal, gold, copper, bauxite and iron ore.

"We are pleased to start selling surplus assets through Ritchie Bros to the global mining industry, with the multichannel sales approach allowing us to sell equipment when, how, and where we choose."

Crofts said Emeco's operations were supported by 1300 employees and a solid and experienced management team.

He said its fleet included more than 1000 units of heavy equipment in various brands including Caterpillar, Hitachi, Liebherr and Komatsu.
