Garraway assets go under the hammer in Ritchie Bros. Auction

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers will hold their first Australian National Unreserved Auction on the 23rd and 24th of February with Garraway Group already consigning 18 assets to the auction.

Equipment is located in Geelong with full component history and detailed equipment reports and photos online for all 18 assets including motor scrapers, dozers, graders, loaders, water wagons and more.

Registrations are now open, and bidding will commence on Saturday 19th February, with all sales in the auction completed through Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers' online platform.

Ritchie Bros. are managing the dispersal of 18 Garraway Group assets through the Australian National Unreserved Auction (February 23-24). There are 10 Caterpillar motor scrapers, a 2020 Caterpillar D9T with only 1,029 hours, along with Caterpillar motor graders and water wagons available for bidding without minimum bids or reserve prices.

"Garraway Group pride themselves on their long-standing association with Caterpillar earthmoving equipment and their unparalleled capabilities in the Australian agricultural, resources and construction industries," says APAC Sales Director, Finlay Massey.

Garraway Earthmoving has its origins in the Sunraysia district commencing 90 years ago primarily sinking tanks and clearing on sheep stations. The Second World War shifted their business into airstrip construction in Mildura and sinking underground fuel dumps in Yelta.

The 18 assets going to auction recently completed two rehabilitation contracts which required the excavation and placement of 20 million m3 of overburden, subsoil, and topsoil.

Russell Garraway, Managing Director of Garraway Group says it makes financial sense to sell his assets with Ritchie Bros. after seeing strong results for consigners internationally.

"I have a long-term relationship with Ritchie Bros. and have been buying through their platform since 2008. I decided to use their worldwide market reach to sell this package as I trust the process will allow the best results for sellers and buyers alike."

In 2022, there remains considerable supply challenges and long lead times for new machines, Ritchie Bros. has observed soaring prices for used construction equipment.

Regional Sales Manager, Cody Watson says the auction will be a great opportunity for buyers to source all the equipment they need for the year ahead without the long wait times.

Specific highlights include:

  • 5 x Caterpillar 637G Motor Scrapers
  • 4 x Caterpillar 631G Motor Scrapers
  • 1 x 1998 Caterpillar 637E Motor Scraper
  • 1 x 2020 Caterpillar D9T Crawler Tractor - 1,029 Hrs
  • 1 x 2005 Caterpillar D10T Crawler Tractor
  • 1 x 2010 Caterpillar 14M Motor Grader
  • 1 x 2003 Caterpillar 14H Motor Grader
  • 1 x 2008 JCB 3CX Loader Backhoe
  • 1 x 2003 Caterpillar 773E Water Wagon
  • 1 x 2003 Caterpillar 735 Water Wagon
  • 1 x 1997 Caterpillar 631E Water Wagon

"With over 1,400 assets already consigned to the National Unreserved Auction, and more to be added daily, we're expecting a lot of interest. With strong demand and shortages in OEM supply, Garraway Group has chosen to use this unique opportunity to sell," says Regional Sales Manager, Cody Watson.

Bidders can expect to see items for sale across the transport, construction, mining, and agricultural industries. The event will be held exclusively online with those interested in bidding urged to register to bid, with bidding opening on February 19. Day one of the auction (February 23) will be dedicated to construction and crushing gear while day two (February 24) will focus on transportation and agriculture assets.
