Scheduled for June 21-23 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the event will include numerous workshops and expert presentations on industry safety and health. All sectors of mining will be represented, the organizers said.
Some of the planned sessions will cover the topics of identity theft, the aging workforce, blasting safety, accident prevention, water safety, miner rights and first aid.
Other presentations will be on:
- Pre-shift inspections
- Slips, trips and falls
- Accident investigations
- Ergonomics in mining
- Back injury prevention
- Hearing conservation
- Working around powered haulage
- Innovative training
- Preparing for an emergency
- Substance abuse.
Updates on regulatory changes by the US Mine Safety and Health Administration will also be discussed at the meeting. The topics are tentative, as a final schedule is pending.
