Polaris cap lamp receives MSHA approval

Designed specifically for the mining environment, the Polaris cap lamp features an ultra-bright LED headpiece with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery that can take more than 500 charges.

The impact, dust and water-resistant unit produces 3500 lux output for more than 12 hours of operating time, weighing in at just 6 ounces.

Polaris has the benefits of low maintenance and great flexibility, as the low-profile lamp can be mounted on a person, hard hat or equipment using a variety of mounting and clip options.

“The Northern Light Polaris is going to revolutionize personal lighting in coal mines in the US,” NLT Global president Heidi Levitt said;

She pointed out that the new hands-free and completely cordless Polaris featured bright illumination as well as an emergency flashing beacon.

Strata Products officials said the announcement of the cap lamp’s approval added depth to the company’s already large line of miner safety products.

Some of these include the HazardAvert proximity detection system and Strata’s new StrataCommTrac wireless communications and tracking system.

Strata Products Worldwide and NL Technologies initially announced their partnership for the marketing and distribution of cap lamps and digital communications and tracking solutions last August.

“With our increasing platform of safety-related products, the partnership with NLT and their innovative communication and tracking systems and their cap lamp products is a natural extension of our service to the coal mining industry,” Strata president Rory Paton-Ash said at the time.
